Before the Workshop...

Before the day of the workshop, please:

(1) Print out the Step by Step instructions

It will help you follow along and/or prevent you from getting lost if you print out the Step by Step instructions and bring them to the workshop with you.

(2) Set up Acquia Drupal (or equivalent)

Attendees need to set up a "sandbox" site with Acquia Drupal (or Drupal and the modules we need) before the 10 AM start of the workshop. Here are several ways to do this, in rough order of easiest to hardest.

Choose one of the following methods:

  1. Sign up for an account at WebEnabled. After you have signed up, create a "Project Folder", and then create an "Acquia" (not "Drupal", but "Acquia") application/site within that project. Be sure to note down the URL, user name, and password that WebEnabled sets up for your site.
  2. Download and install the full Acquia stack, following the installation instructions. This will install everything you need to run Drupal locally on your Windows or Mac laptop, and get one Drupal web site set up. Be sure to note down the user name and password you set up for your site.
  3. Download the Aquia Drupal Full Install. Install it on your web hosting account or your Apache/PHP/MySQL-equipped laptop, following the installation instructions. Be sure to note down the user name and password you set up for your site.
  4. Download Drupal from drupal.org, as well as the modules we'll need for the class (you can see a list on the Notes and Resources page). Install it on your web hosting account or your Apache/PHP/MySQL-equipped laptop. Run the install script, and verify that you can enable all required modules. Be sure to note down the user name and password you set up for your site.

If you need help getting set up with one of these four options, please arrive at the workshop at 9:00 AM, and we will help you get set up. If you already have Drupal running with the modules we need for the class, you can show up at 9:45 AM to sign in and get settled.

(3) Don't forget to bring your laptop and power cord!

And if you are using webenabled.com, make sure that your laptop has WiFi (we will have a password to access the WiFi on the NSCC network) or that you have some other way of accessing the Internet.

NEW (4) Print out parking pass

If you are driving, you need to display the parking pass below on your dashboard. You can park anywhere except the South lot.

NEW (5) Bring power strip

If you have a spare extension cord or power strip, it would be helpful if you could bring it. There are limited outlets in the room. Thanks!
